I am delighted that Dr Sally Tuckett will be taking up a new post as Lecturer in Dress and Textile History from September. Sally was a guest lecturer last year on the MLitt Dress and Textile Histories programme and will lead the programme this year, working in collaboration with Professor Lesley Miller.

Sally is currently Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Edinburgh University on a Leverhulme-funded project ‘Artisans and the Craft Economy in Scotland, 1780-1914’. She was previously researcher on a Royal Society of Edinburgh project ‘Colouring the Nation: Turkey Red and other decorative textiles in Scotland’s Culture and Global Impact, 1800-present’.

Sally’s research interests include non-elite and everyday clothing, identity through fabrics and garments and textile production and networks.

We are looking forward to developing teaching and research links between Textile Conservation and Dress and Textile History.
